FAQs

  • Not always! If your dog already has some basic training (like sit, stay, and leash skills), you might be a good fit for Intermediate. We’re happy to help place you in the right obedience class based on your dog’s age, experience, and behavior.

  • Basic obedience focuses on foundational skills like sit, stay, leash manners, and recall.

Advanced obedience builds on those skills with more distractions, more challenging behaviors like long-distance stays or polite greetings.

  • Maybe! Dogs don’t have to go through every class in order. If your pup already knows the basics and can stay focused around distractions, they might be ready to jump into a more advanced class. Reach out or take our placement quiz to find the best fit.

  • Yes! Puppies over 6 months can join our Foundational Obedience class. If your pup is younger, check out our Puppy 1 class designed just for socialization and early skills.

  • Each group class runs for 5 weeks, with one class per week. Sessions are about 60 minutes long.

  • Maybe!

We recommend starting with a consult so we can learn more about your dog’s reactivity and what they need to feel safe.

Depending on the situation, we may be able to add barriers in class to help your pup stay comfortable.

We also offer a dedicated Reactivity Class for dogs who need more space and support before jumping into a group setting.

  • The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program is an official certification from the American Kennel Club (AKC) that recognizes well-mannered dogs who can confidently behave in public. The test covers 10 key skills like polite greetings, walking calmly on a leash, coming when called, and staying relaxed around distractions.

Even if you don’t plan to take the test, CGC training is a great way to build reliable obedience and real-world manners with your dog.
